Addresses
Send one line, such as 12 Smith St, Morphett Vale SA 5162, and get back the matching address from G-NAF, the national address file, with its point, and what DataQuoll knows about that point: the local government area, active incidents nearby, the nearest river gauge, the nearest emergency facilities and the mobile sites around it, and declared-area status with the declarations scope. Units, levels, lots, ranges and suffixes are read exactly. Matching is never fuzzy: a misspelt street returns no match and names the part that failed.
- Coverage
- 16,091,511 addresses from the 2026-08 G-NAF release, measured 2026-10-15, plus 878,895 alternative addresses for properties that already have one (a corner block on two streets). By state: NSW 4,923,145, VIC 4,187,113, QLD 3,346,038, WA 1,616,957, SA 1,250,751, TAS 367,770, ACT 278,197, NT 116,394, Other Territories 5,146. Most points sit on the property; some are only a street or suburb point, or spaced between neighbours, and every answer says which. The council area and declared-area status are given only when the point is on the property.
- Freshness
- G-NAF is released quarterly and reloaded state by state when it is. An address created since the last release will not match until the next one.
- Provenance
- Geoscape Australia, G-NAF, under the Open G-NAF End User Licence Agreement (CC BY 4.0 with one restriction on compiling addresses for mail). Listed at /api/v1/attribution.
