Reading the numbers honestly

Three things decide whether a count means what it appears to mean, and every response carries all three.

Precision. A record at postcode precision sits at a postcode centroid, which can be kilometres from the event. New Farm above returns 4,504 records and every one of them is a postcode centroid, so they are near that postcode rather than near that street.
Dating. Some sources never supplied a date. Those records are returned and flagged rather than dropped or given one, which is why Glenelg East shows 400 records and no period.
Coverage. The archive holds 4.8 million records, of which 4.0 million carry a usable location. A record with no location cannot appear in a location query at all.

Declarations are matched to the local government area containing the point, not to the address. A declaration with no published end date has not been shown to have ended, and that is not the same as being in force.
